"Ride the Lightning" by Nick is a 17" x 21" piece created at a Hope Creates "Make Your MARC" event.

Artist Statement:
"My guitar represents the album art of “Ride the Lightning” by Metallica. It’s what got me into metal and the music I like now. I found it on Spotify and listened to it and over time it grew on me. It reminded me of when I used to play the drums a lot. I liked how it sounded, so I kept listening. Playing drums was something that helped me pass the time when quarantine was really bad. 

I’ve most looked forward to the music section of this class. Playing the African drums was my favorite part. I’ve listened to a bunch of different music since starting the class. The African drums are easy for me because I get the rhythm. I’m faster with my hands than using drumsticks. Playing with other people makes it easier to keep time too, and it sounds good playing with a group of people."
