"Untitled" by Jody is a 17"x21" piece created at a Hope Creates "Make Your MARC" event.

Artist Statement:
"I like music, and I listen to it all the time. I like making music. You have to go after what you like, and I like music and art. The artwork on my guitar represents that there are so many kinds of music, and each kind brings out different emotions. Art does the same thing; it communicates many different things. 

The first day I came to this class I thought, “What the heck are we going to do?” Now, this class is something good to start my day. It’s always different. I always liked art. Before this class, I only made art when I was bored. Now I pay attention to it. I painted my self-portrait on my first piece. I had never really painted before. I took that idea from my painting and changed it on my guitar. It is still a self-portrait, yet it also shows how many kinds of music create different emotions. 

The different stories I heard from the speakers were all about people making mistakes and getting into trouble. Yet they changed. All of them changed. You can make something out of nothing. Everyone has good in them, you just have to find it, even if they have done some bad stuff in the past. I know I am an amazing person. And I want everyone to know that I did it with just my Mom and me."
